Turquoise Mountain is working with women artisans at a crafts collective in Riyadh to develop textile ranges based on quilting and appliqué techniques. Artisans have used plasterwork designs from historic Jeddah’s buildings as their inspiration. The artisans have also considered the rich history of Jeddah as a port through which varied and luxurious textiles were traded and brought by pilgrims. The choice of elegant silks reflects this unique history, whilst the rich colours echo architectural features and historic textiles from the city.
The quilted products are handcrafted with long-arm sewing machines, that then use digital technology to replicate patterns, and finished by hand at the highest quality.
